Third Space Brewing in the Menomonee Valley unveiled a new charitable giving program to help local youth and the homeless along with two special beer releases.
The beer releases are in celebration of the brewery’s third anniversary, which will be celebrated Sept. 14.
“We’re very thankful to the community for embracing our dream to open a craft brewery in our hometown and would like to do our part giving back,” co-founder and brewmaster Kevin Wright said in a press release.
Wright and Andy Gehl founded Third Space Brewing at 1505 W. St. Paul Ave. in September 2016. Gehl said the brewery got its name based on the idea that a person has his or her home and work.
“But everyone needs a third space,” Gehl said in an email.
Third Space Brewing will unveil its new Give 20 charitable giving program Saturday where the brewery will partner with a new organization each month for a Give 20 night where Third Space will donate 20% of beer sales from that night to the partner charity.
The co-founders will choose organizations that make an impact on the following two causes — youth development and homelessness — which are particularly important to Gehl and Wright.
“We have chosen youth development because of Kevin and my history meeting and working together at YMCA Camp Minikani where we dedicated a portion of our own young lives to working with children,” Gehl said in a press release. “We have also chosen to support homelessness outreach in part because homelessness is a growing issue in our own community, the Menomonee River Valley, but also because we want people to find their ‘third space,’ and it is difficult to have a third space if you don’t have a first space, your home.”
Interested charities can send an inquiry to Third Space Brewing’s donation portal at www.thirdspacebrewing.com/donations. Organizations must be a registered 501(c)(3).
Third Space Brewing will also celebrate its third year in business with two anniversary beers. The brewery will release Billy Mumphrey’s Downfall, a triple IPA with tropic and citrus flavors. The triple IPA will be available on tap, in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and in small quantities at retail locations in southern Wisconsin.
The brewery will also release Warrior Poet, a brandy-barrel aged double version of Third Space’s Unite the Clans Scottish Ale, which won gold and silver at the Great American Beer Festival. The brewery will sell 200 of its 500-ml bottles of Warrior Poet. Interested beer connoisseurs can preorder Warrior Poet and Billy Mumphrey’s Downfall at the brewery’s Facebook anniversary event.
Along with the two specialty beers, Third Space will have seven limited release barrel-aged beers available for purchase including the brewery’s candy bar porter, ice bear baltic porter and Irish stout.
Taqueria La Guacamaya and Stix and Noodles food trucks will be at the anniversary party. Local bands Loud Mouth Soup, a classic rock and modern band, and Category X, who performs 70’s and 80’s music, will play throughout the event. Third Space will offer free brewery tours at 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. The tours are limited to 30 people.
