A Wisconsin pizza crust manufacturer and distributor has purchased a shuttered plant in St. Charles, Missouri, and plans to use it to support “growth and capacity expansion.”
TNT Crust LLC, of Green Bay, said it has purchased the property at 3850 Millstone Parkway, formerly owned by Air Products and Chemicals Inc. for an undisclosed price. It plans to have it operational by the second half of this year.
The company said it would add more than 100,000 square feet over 12 acres, and create more than 100 jobs. TNT said it also expects to expand its existing operations in Green Bay.
TNT’s CEO, Scott McNair, said the expansion “represents a transformative milestone,” one it’s been working toward since its acquisition by Austin, Texas, investment firm Peak Rock Capital in 2018.
“The new facility will be outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and exemplified TNT’s commitment to enhancing our production capabilities and leading the industry in quality, service and innovation,” McNair said in a statement.
The company didn’t respond to questions about the size of the investment.
A person familiar with the matter said the investment made sense due to the region’s “strategic distribution location” and strong local workforce.
Baking Business reports that TNT was founded in 1981, and produces partially baked and self-rising pizza crusts for frozen pizza manufacturers and food service customers at two facilities in Green Bay that employ a total 400 people. It said TNT last year added production capacity in Green Bay to support growth of “better-for-you pizza crusts.” It later expanded its product line to include organic, gluten-free and vegetable-based offerings, the publication said.
