The experts say the hard seltzer market is losing its fizz, but that dip has yet to hit the canned cocktail market.
The tremendous growth experienced by Sheboygan-based Carbliss seems to prove this market trend.
Launched in 2019, co-founders Adam and Amanda Kroener created a 100-calorie, ready-to-drink cocktail that is free of carbohydrates, sugar, and gluten. The company, which has raised a $1 million in capital, experienced triple digit revenue growth between 2000 and 2021.
2022 is shaping up to be another landmark year for the beverage startup.
“We are so far ahead of our forecast and struggling to keep products on the shelves,” Adam Kroener said. “Last year we sold about 45,000 cases, and now we are selling that monthly! We will likely sell close to 400,000 cases by the end of the year, and it’s all organic growth.”
The popular beverage comes in seven flavors: lemon, cranberry black raspberry, lemon lime, passion fruit, black cherry, and Margarita.
The newly launched Tequila Margarita has proved to be a crowd favorite. “The response was so amazing to the Tequila Margarita that we started making plans to get it into a four pack. We are launching that this week in Wisconsin only, because what we planned to make was quickly purchased by Wisconsin partners,” he said.
Carbliss, despite not being a seltzer-based drink, was the big winner at the 2022 Seltzerland Contest hosted in Milwaukee. The company won the Overall Favorite category, and also took top prize in Best RTD/ Canned Cocktail, Best On-site Experience and Best Packaging Design categories.
